Interstate Equipment Company is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic that is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This role requires expertise in assembling equipment, evaluating the extent of necessary repairs- including major power-train overhauls- and ensuring all work is completed to high standards of safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs
- Assemble equipment and determine the extent of necessary repairs, including major power-train overhauls
- Responsible to have and maintain own tools,
- Prepare quote for required services and see the Shop/Service manager for parts that are needed and to finalize quote for final approval.
- Repair and replace components of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air conditioning, electrical systems, suspension, drive trains, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems
- Promote and adhere to safety and security procedures, ensuring proper use of equipment and materials
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety standards and codes of conduct
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy equipment mechanics.
- Familiarity with CAT, John Deere, and Komatsu is a plus.
- Must own hand tools.
- Competent in using diagnostic software.
- Ability to quickly learn and use shop computer software; must be able to use a tablet to run diagnostic tests and enter job information.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Self-starter with initiative and a proven ability to take ownership of responsibilities.
- Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
- Ability to make informed decisions quickly and independently.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position that requires occasional overtime.
