DESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position as an Electro/Mechanical Service Technician with a high-tech medical ultrasound imaging company. This role requires hands-on work with precision instruments, electronic components, and mechanical assemblies to ensure compliance with medical industry quality standards (FDA, ISO 13485).
DUTIES:
· Processes incoming small parts devices in need of repairs, refurbishment, or general preventative maintenance.
· Assemble and test electro-mechanical medical devices and subassemblies according to work instructions, drawings, and SOPs.
· Troubleshoot and repair components such as PCBs, motors, and cables.
· Document work performed, test results, and repairs in compliance with FDA/ISO requirements.
· Documents customer complaints in database to create historical records unique to individual devices and to address problems effectively and in a timely manner.
· Returns serviceable devices to customers in fully operational state and in compliance with quality assurance standards
· Follows procedures for product assembly as documented in company’s quality system.
· Conduct preventive maintenance on production and test equipment.
· Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product failures.
· Maintain accurate inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.
· Handles products, equipment, and materials per the Production Department and company’s quality system procedures.
SKILLS:
· Soldering experience is required.
· Must have experience with small scale electro/mechanical assembly.
· Must be familiar with basic hand tools and electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscope and multimeters.
· Good organizational skills.
· Must be able to function with minimal supervision.
· Must be a team player and be able to follow a specific set of directions closely.
· Skillful hands to assemble small parts, sometimes working under a microscope.
· Strong service orientation.
· Strong technical skills.
· Must possess good communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Associate’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· 2–5 years hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly or service, preferably in medical devices, aerospace, or other regulated industries.
· Strong knowledge of electronics (schematics, multimeters, oscilloscopes) and mechanics.
· Experience soldering, crimping, wiring harness assembly, and using precision mechanical tools.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Requires use of microscopes, precision tools, soldering irons, test equipment, and calibration devices.
