Traffic Controller/Flagger

Position Summary:

Intersafe Traffic Services, Inc. traffic controllers work throughout the greater bay area to direct motorists safely around job sites and away from workers. Traffic controllers will set up flagging operations, lane closures, lane shifts, detours, and any other traffic changes needed to ensure MUTCD and local compliance for temporary traffic control on roadways.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Traffic Controller/Flagger is a full time non-exempt hourly position with overtime expected. Some weekend and night work required as needed.

Travel:

Travel is expected for this position throughout the bay area. A company vehicle with gas card will be provided for work use from the office in Petaluma, CA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

While experience is preferred, we will train the right candidates! A clean valid driver’s license is required and must pass a pre-employment drug test. Must be willing to take a company sponsored flagging safety course and successfully complete company training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Survey job sites for proper sign/delineator placements.
• Set up Signs, Sign Stands, Cones, Barricades, or any other safety equipment required for the job.
• The ability to tow a trailer including but not limited to Arrow Boards, Changeable message signs, light towers, etc.
• Provide flagging services using 2-way radios, hand signals, or other means to communicate.
• Properly and safely close active lanes of traffic with proper procedures and advanced warning.
• Perform site inspections for quality control.
• Communicate with management or designated supervisor regarding concerns about safety.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• 0-2 years of experience performing temporary traffic control or other related tasks.
• Previous experience a plus
• MUST be reliable.
• Strong desire to learn
• Knowledge of MUTCD, WATCH, and temporary traffic control procedures preferred but not required.
• Clean DMV record, background check, and drug test required.
• Ability to prioritize competing tasks.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner.

Daily driving is expected. Traffic Controllers are exposed to varying climates and elements, determined by Mother Nature. Extreme heat, rain, dust and wind are to be expected.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to sit and stand; talk or hear; reach with hands and arms; key/type. The employee is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to drive a vehicle.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
