Responsibilities: Safety is our business! As a Flagger/Traffic Controller you are responsible for various road closures and the safety of those passing by. In this job, you will learn how to close off a road using cones/ barricades and be responsible for two-way flagging. Two-way flagging is using a stop & slow sign to allow the traffic to know when they can pass work zones safely. You will also be responsible for loading trucks and delivering/Picking-up barricades, signs & Traffic Control equipment and complete reports and other duties as necessary.
- Respond to Dispatch Center calls in a timely manner for availability – no later than 1 hour if between the hours and 8am and 5pm and no later than the next day if after 5pm.Â
- Maintain contact and coordination with TMI Dispatcher on and off the jobÂ
- Maintain all equipment in a safe and working conditionÂ
- Perform pre-job inspection and inventory utilizing the Vehicle and Equipment Checklist (VEC)Â
- Inspect vehicle to ensure safe operation prior to operating (oil, tire air pressure, etc.) and report any concerns to your supervisor or the dispatcherÂ
- Inventory and inspect equipment needed for jobÂ
- Load all required equipment into vehicleÂ
- Navigate safely to and from office to jobsite utilizing all aspect of the Smith Driving System to ensure safetyÂ
- Setting up devices: cones, signs, barricades, water-filled k-rail, etc. on job site per MUTCDÂ guidelinesÂ
- Flagging of traffic to ensure safe work zone for TMI customers, TMI employees, and the publicÂ
- Coordinating with customer and/or TMI dispatcher ensuring a safe, efficient and problem free service provided to TMI customersÂ
- Completing required paperwork, receipts, and time-sheets on or before mandatory deadlinesÂ
- Report any and all unsafe conditions to supervisor as soon as possibleÂ
- Ensure a safe work zone at all times for the customer and pedestrians by being attentive and refraining from being in the vehicle unless on a breakÂ

Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license for 3 Years and a clear motor vehicle record.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be available during business hours and able to work nights/ weekends when on-call schedule.
- Able to lift 50lbs and stand on your feet for 6-12 hours per day.
- Decent Communication Skills? English proficiency required for safety coordination.
- Must be able to pass drug test.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
