The Job You Will Perform:
Provide accounting and analytical services to support plant operations and contribute to analytical efforts at the IN/MI Strategic Business Unit level. This individual must support and exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper. The individual will work closely with the Complex Controller, plant management, and cross-functional teams — turning operational and financial data into insights that help the business make better decisions on costs, margins, capital investments, and performance. It's a role where you'll see how the numbers connect to what actually happens on the plant floor.
This is a great fit for someone who wants real exposure to manufacturing operations and aspires to grow beyond an analyst role within IP's finance organization. The role includes up to 25% travel, offering exposure to different facilities, teams, and operating environments across the region.

- Operational Collaboration & Support
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with plant management, supply chain, and production teams to understand operational drivers and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Serve as a regional resource and assist with sister facilities as needed.
- Coaching safety in others and lead by example.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting
Responsibilities:
- Analyze performance and recommend actions to maximize financial return.
- Work under the direction of the Controller to prepare and analyze operational results, trends, customer profitability, capital projects, incentive plans, budgeting & forecasting, and special projects.
- Perform and coordinate regular and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis.
- Provide financial insights to support production initiatives, inventory management, and capacity utilization.
- Utilize systems as a source of research and analysis.
- Investigate, review, and evaluate financial transactions and recommend appropriate treatment.
- Compliance, Controls & Policy Adherence
Responsibilities:
- Be familiar with financial policies and capital investment manuals.
- Assist the Controller in ensuring adherence to internal controls and company policies.
- Implement solutions to address control weaknesses.
- Support financial audits and compliance reviews.
- Participate in month-end close and prepare journal vouchers
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field required.
- 5 years of accounting and/or finance experience; work experience in manufacturing facility highly desirable.
- Corrugated, printing, packaging and/or related finance experience in manufacturing environment a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of general business management principles and internal financial management.
- Demonstrated skills to influence peers and management.
- Demonstrated effective communication with business leaders at various levels and functions.
- Must be a self-starter
- Respond quickly and effectively to requests/concerns
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
