Position Overview
Traton Research and Development is developing leading-edge commercial vehicle solutions to meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s customers. At the International Motors Proving Ground in New Carlisle, IN, the Traton Functional Verification and Validation department performs testing of future International Motors brand diesel and electric trucks and school buses. The Functional Verification and Validation team performs validation specifically of the electrical and electronic systems of commercial trucks and school buses. In this area, Traton R&D has need of an Electrical Test Engineer to prepare test procedures and execute electrical testing of vehicle electrical systems. This testing will encompass system integration, computer software, serial communication, electronic components, power generation, and electricity distribution. The testing will be performed on International Motors’ diesel vehicles, electric vehicles, and vehicles with autonomous driver assist systems.
The Electrical Test Engineer will provide technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering to assess whether new vehicle designs meet customers’ needs as stated through design requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare test cases and test procedures based on written requirements.
- Perform electrical validation testing and analysis of test data.
- Troubleshoot to the root causes of failures of electric circuits or software.
- Write formal test reports.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Desired Skills
- Understanding of SAE J1939 Control Area Network (CAN)
- Understanding and proficiency with data acquisition equipment and methods
- English proficiency and technical writing skills for preparing procedures and test reports
