International Crane Foundation
Baraboo, WI Full Time
POSTED ON 11/19/2025 CLOSED ON 12/18/2025

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grants Officer – International position at International Crane Foundation?

The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is seeking an experienced and motivated Grants Officer – International to advance our global mission of conserving cranes and the ecosystems, watersheds, and flyways essential to their survival. This position plays a central role in supporting ICF’s Asia and Africa Programs through four key areas: developing and implementing fundraising strategies, identifying and pursuing new funding streams, writing high-quality grant proposals, and managing the tracking and reporting of secured grants.  This is a remote, full-time position with an annual salary of $70,000-$80,000

Working with a small team of grant writers, the Grants Officer – International will collaborate with the Vice Presidents for Asia and Africa, regional program leaders, and ICF’s Senior Leadership, Development, and Finance teams. Together, they will shape and execute a comprehensive funding strategy that scales ICF’s impact, diversifies funding sources, and strengthens long-term financial sustainability. The role also includes advising on strategic funding opportunities in wealthier Asian countries, particularly China and Korea, and engaging with networks such as the Conservation Finance Alliance to expand ICF’s participation in innovative finance mechanisms like carbon offsetting, impact investment, and climate funds.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished grant writer capable of developing six-figure and larger proposals, budgets, and pitches to a range of funders, including multilateral and bilateral agencies, corporations, and philanthropic organizations. They will manage grant activities, including budget coordination, reporting, and compliance, ensuring timely submissions and clear communication with donors and partners. The Grants Officer – International will also contribute to annual budget development for Asia and Africa programs, support financial reporting aligned with donor requirements, and coordinate with Senior Leadership on U.S.-based donor relations.

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a conservation-related field, with knowledge of key environmental topics such as climate change, biodiversity, agriculture, and water resources. Proven success in developing technically strong grant proposals and proficiency with essential software (Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat) are required; experience with accounting tools such as SAP Concur is preferred.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic professional to make a lasting global impact—helping secure the resources that power ICF’s mission to protect cranes and the landscapes they call home. For more information about the position and to apply online by November 26, 2025, please go to: https://savingcranes.org/careers/
