General Description:
- Responsible to identify, design and develop a product/product family.
- Ensures production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel.
- Tests finished product for quality purposes and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary.
- They receive and process changes required by clients, released on production (not launches), at a SR Level, responsible to develop the product from the concept up to the SOP on a limited basis (if it is a BTP, Built to Print) or as a full development as an FSS, Full-Service Supplier.
- May develop, uncover, characterize, and assess strategic new products and/or product extensions.
- Transforms and adopts discoveries to ensure research and development activities will maintain an organization’s competitive position.
- May also focus on pure research and/or design and implementing the manufacturing processes and equipment for the product.

- Knowledge of Second Tier Technologies that would be a plus in a candidate’s consideration.

- Knife Scoring (Sonic or Cold)

Education:
- BS/BA required
- MA preferred
Experience:
- Requires 5-8 years
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Comfortable in working directly with the customer, and at times, in independent situations.
- Self-motivated and able to operate without constant guidance from their manager.
- Ability to define general product requirements to the customer.
- Ability to communicate customer wants/questions to support teams and then communicate guidance and design/tooling criteria back to the customer.
- An understanding of engineering discipline documents (DFMEA, DVP&R, EBOM)
- Able to assist in creating, maintaining and updating the above documents as needed
- Participate in weekly design reviews, and at times lead weekly design reviews if needed.
- Initiate and track engineering changes through an ECN/RFQ system
- Basic understanding of GD&T, gage/fixture design and build
- Ability to support analysis of dimensional data and corrective action for product concerns
- Understand and able to support various team disciplines (PFMEA, APQP, DFA, DFM, DFE, LPMP, PDM, DFSS
- An understanding of FEA/CAE development and be able to help develop the expected inputs/outputs needed for the design to be successfully evaluated for FEA/CAE
- Ability to analysis the outputs and work with the team on design improvements as needed.
- Team Center Experience
- Initiate DR’s and DTR's for required design work and data transfers.
- Cut sections/take measurements
- Maintain engineering open issues and evidence documents
- Ensure customer expectations are being met or exceeded
- Utilize lessons learned and continuous improvement activities to ensure robust designs
- Responsible for the execution of initial engineering release and subsequent changes
- Provide launch support, including onsite at IAC and customer manufacturing locations
