We're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business GENERAL SUMMARY The Outage Manager is responsible for managing all forced, economic, and refuel outage activities for Columbia Generating Station (CGS) nuclear power plant using an industry standard project management methodology. The level of responsibility is an outage budget in excess of $23,000,000 in incremental Operations and Maintenance (O&M) costs. Major Maintenance and associated design change projects implemented during outages could total an additional $200,000,000. The purpose of this position is to ensure all approved outage activities are completed within budget and schedule. All outage activities will be done in a manner that assures nuclear, radiation, and personnel safety are not compromised. Unit reliability over the following operating cycle is a key measure of success. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Managing – Manages a combination of direct, matrixed, and contract employees (as needed) using established Energy Northwest policies, procedures, and practices. Determines personnel performance expectations, ratings, promotions, salary changes, transfers, and terminations. Leading – Motivates the outage team by establishing and communicating a common vision. The OM provides leadership using The Excellence Model Handbook, station policies and procedures, and established standards. Developing – Develops outage strategies to achieve the outage goals. The OM develops outage staff through setting goals, defining roles/responsibilities, and providing the associated coaching and mentoring. Planning – Establishes overall outage vision. Leads the station organization in planning and preparing activities. Aligns the station organization for execution of each refueling outage. Scheduling – Develops outage schedule and GE-Windows using industry best. Assures a resource loaded outage schedule is developed and maintained. Assures proper progress and focus through frequent interface with functional managers, supervision, and team leaders. The OM assures proper logic ties to protect defense-in-depth of key safety functions. Evaluating – Establishes methods and processes to monitor and communicate outage progress, and uses indicators to pinpoint areas that require additional attention. The OM performs post project reviews to identify lessons learned and uses this information to achieve continuous improvement. Controlling – Assists in conducting periodic outage reviews which compare current outage status to the outage plan. When a deviation occurs the OM establishes and implements corrective actions. Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated. Must support the biennial refueling outage. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university, in engineering/technical field or equivalent with 10 years’ experience in an operating nuclear power plant in operations, engineering, or maintenance, to include: 5 years’ experience in the work management, operations and/or outage conduct area and 4 years supervisory experience in a commercial nuclear power plant -OR- a high school diploma or GED with 14 years of experience in an operating nuclear power plant in operations, engineering, or maintenance, to include: 5 years of experience in the work management, operations and/or outage conduct area and 4 years supervisory experience in a commercial nuclear power plant Pay Range $162,274.00 - $243,412.00 Annual Midpoint: $202,843.00 Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances. Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications. Incentive Compensation This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
