Job Summary:
The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance operations of Xanterra’s facilities. This year-round role involves supervising staff, coordinating repairs, ensuring safety and sustainability compliance, and maintaining operational efficiency across all assets and systems. This is a year-round position, based in the Old Faithful ares.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and support maintenance staff, including year-round and seasonal employees.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and leading maintenance personnel.
- Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and the National Park Service to ensure timely and accurate communication.
- Ensure maintenance operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and company standards.
- Respond to maintenance requests from all departments with professionalism and cooperation.
- Document preventive and corrective maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Utilize appropriate tools and materials to complete work orders safely and effectively.
- Promote a clean, safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Work independently with minimal supervision; flexibility to work overtime or nights as needed.
- Support and adhere to Xanterra’s sustainability and safety programs.
Qualifications
Required:
- Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience required; familiarity with Maximo preferred.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (current and valid).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving work environment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or people management role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including holidays, weekends, and varied shifts.
Preferred:
- Advanced knowledge of facility maintenance and operations; hospitality industry experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective leadership and team-building abilities.
- Excellent organizational and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with OSHA General Industry (1910) and Construction (1926) standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Physical Requirements include:
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection and comply with related medical screening requirements.
- Capable of walking long distances over uneven terrain and climbing stairs/ladders in all weather conditions.
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and crawling for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record for the past 3 years.
- Must be able to work at elevations of more than 7700 feet.
