This position is responsible for providing strategic management and tactical execution of installation services activities. Charged with the direct oversight of field installation operations, service resolution, and talent acquisition, training, and development. Serve as a brand ambassador to drive the values of Interior Installations.


Personnel Management

  • Hire, train, coach and develop installation employees, temporary staff, and subcontractors to drive proficiency and efficiency, ensuring operational excellence and outstanding client experiences
  • Train and mentor lead installers in the expert skills of installation project analysis, work planning and management, labor management, client and third-party interfacing, client relations, project administration, etc.
  • Establish position responsibilities, experience, and skill levels, recommending employees for specific positions as appropriate
  • Provide positive, effective management, direction, and operational execution of field installation services, in line with identified strategic objectives
  • Responsible for monitoring and evaluating individual performance, abilities, and capacities of installation employees, recommending wage increases as appropriate
  • Ensure that sound, positive employee relations practices are followed, managing employee problems and discipline as necessary
  • Partner with leadership on identifying systemic training gaps and propose solutions to address gap

Quality and Client Satisfaction

  • Partner with leadership to establish installation service standards of performance, and monitor these standards throughout the installation service cycle
  • Partner with leadership to establish client satisfaction criteria, and monitor these criteria for all service clients
  • Encourage and participate in division quality processes and meetings, ensuring that on-going quality processes are being implemented and that continual improvement goals are being met
  • Serve as client liaison to proactively address and resolve client and/or installation-related issues in a timely manner

Budget/Financial

  • Assist in the development of a division scorecard; monitoring budget throughout the year to ensure responsible expenditures and adherence to scorecard goals

Facility/Equipment

  • Responsible for ongoing research (features, quality, price, competitive alternatives, etc.) for equipment, machinery, tools, etc. to control costs
  • Analyze equipment specs for new equipment. Recommend equipment requirements to upgrade and maintain productivity and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all inbound and outbound installation equipment, ensuring that all installation equipment is properly maintained and accounted for

Field Operations

  • Ensure that all division policies and procedures are designed to maximize productivity, efficiency, and profitability, while also ensuring the highest quality of work
  • Originate and schedule project installation dates and take steps to ensure installation is expedited as scheduled
  • Partner with Project Management team to ensure appropriate employee assignments and workforce levels are allocated
  • Partner with Project Management team and office administrative staff to establish and ensure procedures and workflow of project from time of scheduling to installation completion is organized, safe, and efficient
  • Physically visit jobs to determine the job readiness state and communicate before jobs are dispatched
  • Interface with the field installation teams to ensure client and sales personnel communications are regular and professional
  • Perform regular, unplanned job site inspections to ensure installation quality is maintained. Perform installation services while on site as necessary
  • Attend internal departmental meetings and external client appointments

Safety

  • Develop and maintain adherence to division safety policies and standards
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, inspections, and follow-up assessments to ensure compliance and timely resolution
  • Facilitate safety training as needed in the on-boarding process including hands-on training
  • Oversee the distribution, tracking, reporting, and return of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Reports To: General Manager

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of commercial furniture installation management experience

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, furniture specification plans and other architectural drawings
  • Strong product and technical knowledge, including applicable building codes, correct product application, custom applications and pricing, price estimating and solicitation, electricity, and cabling, etc.
  • Ability to analyze, plan, schedule and implement project installation
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of contract furniture management, including account management, project management, order preparation, order management, installation, relocation, and contract furniture administration
  • Working knowledge of interior construction, interior design, moves and relocations, trucking, furniture manufacturing and shipping, building management and current workplace issues
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
