Reports to

Thrift Store Manager

Job purpose

Responsible for assisting the Interfaith Thrift Store with receiving and sorting donations. Loading and unloading donation truck and maintaining organization of the warehouse.

Duties and responsibilities

· Accept donations from the public

· Sort and categorize donations

· Bring donations into the Thrift Store for the staff to price

· Maintain warehouse and donation areas in a clean and orderly fashion

· Operates forklift as needed

· Greet and offer assistance to customers providing donations to store; offering tax receipt

· Maintains third world merchandise for Symphony Salvage

· Ensures trash and dumpsters are maintained in a timely fashion

· Coordinate with Store Manager for special sales or events for display set ups

· Maintain outside and appliance room– clean and shopper-friendly

· Assists truck driver on pick ups and deliveries when needed

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Effective communication skills, oral and written.
• Must be able to follow directions and be a self-starter when necessary
• Great customer service skills

· Ability to pass drug test and background check

Preferred:

· Ability to operate a forklift

· Marketing experience

· Merchandising experience

Working conditions

Working conditions include handling dusty, sometimes soiled and dirty clothing, furniture and other household items. Work is primarily under cover, partly in a warehouse setting and partly in a retail environment, but occasionally outside loading and unloading donated items.

Physical requirements

Must have the ability to lift heavy items up to 40 lbs. and have knowledge of loading and securing loads in the truck. Must be able to obtain a forklift license. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular).

Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 30.0 per week
