Job purpose
The Interfaith Thrift Store Truck Driver is a representative of Interfaith in the community while picking up and delivering donations, providing excellent customer service. The driver is responsible for careful loading and unloading of large donations.
Duties and responsibilities
· Driving company vehicle safely and professionally
· Pick up donated items and deliver sold items as needed
o Be able to determine if items will meet our standards for sale and be able to gently refuse any non-sellable items
o Use furniture blankets and any equipment necessary to protect all donations’ maximum profitably; properly securing donations to the inside of the truck, so they can be transported safely.
· Be kind to any customers or donors that you encounter; keeping in mind you represent IES in the community with your words and actions
· Usage of donation software for pick ups and deliveries, GPS equipment and company cell phone
· Prepare Gift In-Kind forms for donors
· Working closely with Store Manager for scheduling of pickups and deliveries; communicating as necessary in a timely fashion
· Maintain email daily while on duty and reporting information to Store Manager as necessary
· Keep an adequate supply of needed forms and supplies
· Assist with stock within the store, warehouse and outside yards, including receiving area
· Assist with keeping all mechanical equipment of Thrift Store in good running order; notifying your supervisor of any necessary problems or safety concerns immediately
· Load and unload the delivery truck on a daily basis
· Work closely with other staff members to timely maintain donations as directed
· Notify CEO of significant donors and/or donations
· To keep an up to date notebook of job duties and details in the event of illness or transition periods
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Effective communication skills, oral and written
- Valid Florida Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to pass drug test and background check
Preferred:
- A good working knowledge of all Marion County roads and subdivisions including The Villages.
Working conditions
Must have an uplifting and positive attitude along with good phone skills. Time spent in company truck and using forklift; both for loading and unloading of donated items.
Physical requirements
Must have the ability to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs and have knowledge of loading and securing loads in the truck. Must be able to obtain a forklift license. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular).
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
