The Department of Indian Work (DIW) Program Manager leads the coordination, administration, and delivery of the department’s programs, with a strong focus on American Indian Youth Enrichment (AIYE). This role provides leadership and administrative oversight for AIYE, while also managing the teams and programs of the Economic Mobility. Reporting to the Director of the Department of Indian Work, the Program Manager supervises staff, supports program operations and reporting, strengthens community partnerships, and ensures effective day-to-day administration across all DIW initiatives.

Responsibilities 

Program Leadership & Coordination (AIYE and Hub)

  • Support the Director in planning program models and coordinating, promoting, and implementing DIW programs, including American Indian Youth Enrichment (AIYE), and the Economic Mobility Hub.
  • Provide consistent, high-quality communication and service to participants, families, staff, and community partners across all programs.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with school districts, Native-led organizations, and community partners.
  • Oversee all operational aspects of the AIYE program, including recruitment, transportation, nutrition, family engagement, budget management, and program evaluation.
  • Provide leadership and support for culturally grounded curriculum and lesson planning, integrating Indigenous history, teachings, language, and cultural practices alongside academic enrichment.
  • Maintain a consistent on-site presence by participating in AIYE program activities, field trips, and family cultural events.
  • Coordinate Economic Mobility Hub programming, including monthly family events aligned with the Hub’s pillars.
  • Plan and facilitate family engagement sessions across AIYE, and the Economic Mobility Hub.
  • Support and participate in DIW and Interfaith Action organization-wide events and activities.

Administration, Data, and Reporting

  • Manage program documentation, data collection, and reporting for AIYE, and the Economic Mobility Hub to ensure accuracy and support continuous improvement.
  • Perform administrative duties related to program recruitment and staff supervision.
  • Ensure funding compliance and maintain accurate records in electronic databases and inventory systems.
  • Prepare budget and expense reports for all programming.
  • Draft narrative reports highlighting program successes, challenges, and outcomes.

Supervision and Staff Leadership

  • Supervise DIW staff for the Economic Mobility Hub, and contracted AIYE teachers.
  • Set performance goals and deadlines aligned with IFA’s mission.
  • Manage staff workflows and ensure clarity of roles, responsibilities, and delegated tasks.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide ongoing coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Assess employee performance and identify areas for growth and improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Department of Indian Work.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of administrative program management experience, including budgeting, reporting, compliance, and program coordination.
  • Experience working in child and youth academic preparedness programs and an awareness of Indigenous culture, history, and communities.
  • Demonstrated people management experience, including direct supervision of staff, contractors, or volunteers, with responsibility for coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of Native culture, community values, and traditions or lived experience within an Indigenous community.
  • Commitment to serving Native families in a culturally respectful, strengths-based manner.
  • Experience working in child and youth academic preparedness programs and an awareness of Indigenous culture, history, and communities.
  • Experience working with Native communities, youth programs, or community-based organizations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while collaborating effectively with teams and partners.
  • Proficiency with basic computer tools (email, documents, spreadsheets, databases, and virtual meeting platforms).
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must have own vehicle, valid license and proof of insurance as local travel is necessary.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, in-person position based in the office. Work occurs across program sites, schools, and community spaces, with occasional evening and weekend hours for events and programming. During peak AIYE programming, the Program Manager will work on-site at the American Indian Magnet School.

 

Salary : $60,000 - $72,000
