Intercity Transit is recruiting for a supervisor to join the Facilities Department in overseeing the daily operations of building maintenance. This position supervises and monitors the work of Facilities Specialist and Technicians while also scheduling work, managing work orders and tool and spare parts inventories.
As a Facilities Supervisor, you will:
- Lead day-to-day activities in support of the division. Serve as liaison among the facilities department and other divisions and departments in the agency. Lead staff in performing activities for service changes and updates.
- Train, coach, mentor and supervise staff. Assign work, ensure employees follow policies and procedures and assists in hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions and recommendations.
- Evaluate work orders, train and support staff in the correct way to collect data. Communicate with Operations and customers on conditions in the field.
- Perform random quality assurance assessments; evaluate sites for proposed shelters and stops and informs planning, operations, and procurement of issues and status.
- Conduct research on facility maintenance problems or failures; defines problems, collects and analyzes data, and draws conclusions to facilitate repair and resolve problems. Propose solutions and products to management to improve efficiency and results. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Facilities Grounds function.
- Implement operational policies, procedures and controls to ensure safe and efficient operational activities and adherence to established service, budgetary and customer satisfaction standards. Recommend changes as warranted.
- Assist in the coordination of contingency plans and adapts operations for unexpected weather conditions, equipment failures, and emergency situations. Responds to facility and emergency situations on a 24 hour/7 day a week basis. Assist in the management of the Facilities on-call program.
- Orders materials and maintains inventory of required materials to carry on maintenance work. Recommends changes or other actions to accomplish more workable installations and inspects projects for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Carries out special projects; prepares written reports; and maintains various administrative records.
- Act as the Facilities Manager in their absence. Serves on committees in support of Agency mission.
Are you the one we are looking for?
- Associate degree in a related field AND four (4) years of experience performing semi-skilled facilities and/or grounds maintenance activities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current Intercity Transit employee with a Washington State Driver's License.
- Must be able to obtain Department of Transportation Flagger Certification, Forklift Certification, State of Washington Pesticide Applicator License and Burlington North Sante Fe Railway Access Certification.
- Must submit to a criminal background check, the results of which must meet hiring criteria for the role.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations; biohazards, toxic substances, and related protective measures; basic maintenance and landscape methods; safety practices and procedures; customer service principles; and the use of standard data collection and analysis to support process improvements.
- Skill in monitoring and evaluating staff; operating applicable power tools and equipment, pressure washers, sweepers, forklift, agency vehicles; assembling and construction structures; identifying operational deficiencies and assessing opportunities for improvements; reading and interpreting a variety of documents; preparing written correspondence and reports; performing basic mathematical calculations; repairing, replacing, installing, cleaning structures and signage; maintaining records.
