What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Maintenance Person position at Inter-Lakes School District?
Inter-Lakes School District is seeking a reliable, skilled, and motivated Maintenance Person to join our Facilities team. This role is essential in ensuring that our schools, buildings, and grounds remain safe, operational, and welcoming for students, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections across district buildings and grounds
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules
- Assist with groundskeeping, including snow removal, landscaping, and outdoor repairs
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- Set up and break down rooms or spaces for events and school activities
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal safety regulations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance records
- Collaborate with custodial and operations staff as needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Prior experience in building maintenance, construction, skilled trades, or related fields
- Comfortable in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks
- Occasional weekends required
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must meet all employment requirements
Preferred:
- Trade certifications (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.)
- Experience working in a school or public-sector environment
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS)
What We Offer:
