Senior Business Systems Analyst (ORMB / Premium Billing)

We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support the implementation and ongoing operations of a billing platform (ORMB) within a healthcare payer environment. This role sits at the intersection of business, billing operations, and technology, with a strong focus on premium billing analysis, issue resolution, and system optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex billing and invoicing issues (premium billing, subsidies, proration, retroactivity) within a healthcare payer environment
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive issues through resolution and prevention
- Partner with business stakeholders, IT, and vendors to gather requirements, define system impacts, and align solutions
- Act as the primary liaison between business and technical teams for billing system functionality and enhancements
- Write and maintain business requirements, process flows, and system documentation
- Utilize SQL and data analysis to investigate discrepancies and validate system behavior
- Support system testing, debugging, and performance monitoring, including reviewing defect logs and identifying trends
- Identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities through data analysis and process evaluation
- Create process diagrams and data flow mappings to support system understanding and enhancements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across billing operations and system performance
- 5 years of Business Systems / Business Analysis experience
- Strong experience in healthcare payer billing, with a focus on premium billing (required)
- Experience with:
- Fully insured group & consumer billing
- ACA subsidies / tax credits
- Repricing, retroactivity, and billing lifecycle
- Hands-on experience analyzing and resolving complex system and data issues
- Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and investigation
- Experience working with billing or financial systems (ORMB strongly preferred)
- Ability to operate independently with a high level of ownership and accountability
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface across business, technical, and vendor teams
- Investigative, detail-oriented, and naturally curious (detective mindset)
- Proven ability to take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
- Strong collaborator who can translate business needs into technical solutions
- Experience supporting systems transitioning from implementation to BAU
