Optical Network Deployment Engineer

Overview

IntePros is seeking an Optical Network Deployment Engineer to support high-volume network expansion and capacity delivery initiatives. This role focuses on executing end-to-end optical span deployments, including planning, auditing, and running build workflows to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in optical networking, IP routing, and large-scale network rollouts, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced deployment environment.

Core ResponsibilitiesDeployment Execution

• Execute optical span deployments across multiple projects
• Complete cutsheets and perform deployment planning activities
• Audit spans to ensure accuracy and readiness
• Run required build workflows to complete deployments
  
  

Network Operations & Analysis

• Apply strong networking fundamentals to support deployment activities
• Analyze and troubleshoot network issues as they arise
• Ensure deployment quality and adherence to standards
  
  

Collaboration & Escalations

• Work primarily independently with limited team interaction
• Engage with internal teams for escalations when necessary
  
  

Top Must-Have Hard Skills (Ranked)

• Strong experience with DWDM networks and optical network technologies, including planning and modeling tools
• Deep understanding of IP networking fundamentals and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
• Experience with large-scale network deployments and strong troubleshooting skills
  
  

Additional Required Experience

• Hands-on experience with router platforms (Cisco 37xx, 49xx, 65xx, 73xx, 76xx)
• Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including:
• DWDM, T1/OTN
• IPv4 & IPv6
• TCP (internals & flow control)
• BGP, OSPF
• HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP
• TACACS, IPSEC, VPNs
• NetFlow, DNS, HTTP
• Ability to read and understand code

Nice to Have

• Troubleshooting experience with IP routing and switching

Key Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant industry experience
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
