Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Applied Scientist with deep expertise in machine learning and large-scale algorithmic development to support the buildout of advanced software solutions for high-volume operational environments. This role requires strong scientific rigor, hands-on programming ability, and the capacity to develop or enhance algorithms that meaningfully improve user experience and system performance.

The ideal candidate brings expertise in areas such as machine learning, LLM-based systems, numerical optimization, data mining, high-performance computing, or related fields. Success in this role requires balancing independent research with collaborative engineering work, while evaluating feasibility, delivering accurate models, and advancing state-of-the-art approaches.

Key ResponsibilitiesScientific & Technical Leadership

  • Assess feasibility, effort, and timelines for new initiatives requiring scientific invention or novel algorithmic development.
  • Develop new algorithms or enhance existing models to improve product performance, efficiency, or customer impact.
  • Apply expertise in ML, LLMs, and advanced computational methods to solve complex problems at scale.
  • Remain current on emerging research in machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, and related areas.

Hands-On Development

  • Program in Python, Java, or comparable languages to build models, prototypes, and production-ready solutions.
  • Leverage ML and LLM services and frameworks, including tools such as Bedrock or Sagemaker equivalents.
  • Utilize algorithms and techniques across parsing, numerical optimization, distributed computing, high-performance computing, and structured data processing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work both independently and collaboratively with engineers, program managers, and operational teams.
  • Participate in technical discussions, contribute to project direction, and help resolve scientific or algorithmic challenges.
  • Communicate findings, feasibility assessments, and model behavior to technical and non-technical partners.

Quality, Delivery & Performance

  • Ensure accuracy, reliability, and quality in all scientific outputs and model deliverables.
  • Contribute to milestone planning, track progress, and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Follow best practices in model validation, testing, and documentation.

Growth & Experience Development

  • Gain hands-on experience working with modern software tools and large-scale operational systems.
  • Contribute scientific skill to projects with significant real-world impact.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master's or PhD strongly preferred.
  • Experience programming in Java, Python, ReactJS/JavaScript, or similar languages.
  • 3 years of experience with machine learning and LLM services (e.g., Bedrock, Sagemaker equivalents).
  • 4 years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Algorithms & data structures
    • Parsing
    • Numerical optimization
    • Data mining
    • Parallel & distributed computing
    • High-performance computing
Top 3 Must-Have Skills

  • Java, Python, ReactJS/JavaScript, or related programming languages – 4 years
  • Machine Learning & LLM Platform Experience (e.g., Bedrock, Sagemaker equivalents) – 3 years
  • Algorithms, Numerical Optimization, Data Mining, or High-Performance/Distributed Computing – 4 years
