POSITION OBJECTIVE: To support the Safety Supervisor in ensuring compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and safety initiatives through training support, documentation, inspections, and employee engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum high school diploma and two years of manufacturing experience.
- Previous safety experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of workers’ compensation and safety reporting processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Proficient computer and documentation skills.
- Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
- Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.
- Assist the Safety Supervisor with daily safety activities and initiatives.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and report findings to the Safety Supervisor.
- Assist with preparing and coordinating safety training materials.
- Support employee safety awareness and engagement activities.
- Assist with maintaining OSHA logs and safety documentation.
- Monitor PPE compliance and report concerns to supervision.
- Assist with incident investigations and documentation.
- Support Emergency Response Team activities and drills.
- Assist with maintaining SDS / Right-to-Know stations.
- Conduct follow-up on corrective actions from safety inspections.
- Maintain organized safety files and records.
- Assist with housekeeping and 5-S audit activities.
- Participate in plant walkthroughs and safety observations.
- Follow all corporate, site, and plant policies and procedures.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Safety Supervisor.
- Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions not necessarily temperature conditions.
- Outside environmental conditions, no effective protection from weather.
- Inside and outside environments apply.
- Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
- Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
- Subject to noise causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise levels.
- Subject to hazards, such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gases, high heat or combustible materials.
- Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by orders, fumes, gases, poor ventilation and dusts.
- Subject to oils and other cutting fluids via touch or air.
- OSHA training preferred
- First Aid / CPR preferred
- Additional company safety training as assigned
- The Safety Coordinator works under the direction of the Safety Supervisor and supports enforcement of company safety policies and procedures by communicating concerns and observations to appropriate leadership.
- Office equipment including computers, printers, calculators, and copiers.
- Basic safety monitoring equipment.
- Calculator and standard office tools.
- Climbing stairs and ladders as necessary.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Reaching and grasping objects
- Lifting up to 35 pounds occasionally.
- Talking and hearing in manufacturing environments.
- Pulling and pushing objects when necessary.
- Inspection and administrative duties.
- Ability to identify hazards and observe employee work practices.
- Ability to differentiate colors, depth, and perception.
