Job Title: Audio Embedded Firmware Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA (Preferred) or Burlingame, CA
Duration: 12 months (strong possibility of extension)
Our client is seeking an experienced Audio Embedded Firmware Engineer to support the development of next‑generation audio systems for innovative consumer hardware products. In this hands‑on role, you will work close to the hardware, integrating and optimizing embedded firmware that enables advanced audio features in a novel form factor.
You will collaborate with system architects, hardware engineers, software developers, and test teams to bring high‑quality audio experiences from concept through production.
Required Qualifications
- 4 years of experience developing embedded firmware using C/C
- Strong experience with RTOS or bare‑metal firmware development
- Experience with multi‑core and multi‑threaded embedded systems
- Solid understanding of audio signal processing concepts
- Hands‑on experience with audio and control interfaces such as I2S, PDM, I2C, SPI, UART
- Proven ability to debug on real hardware using lab tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.)
- Experience flashing, validating, and running firmware on embedded hardware boards
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in ambiguous environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with audio DSPs (e.g., HiFi‑class DSPs or similar)
- Knowledge of low‑power firmware design and power management techniques
- Experience using Audio Precision or similar audio measurement tools
- Familiarity with Bluetooth audio, USB audio, or wireless audio protocols
- Ability to read and review hardware schematics and PCB designs
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
Responsibilities:
- Develop, integrate, validate, and optimize embedded firmware for audio subsystems on custom hardware platforms
- Implement and debug audio features and algorithms on embedded systems (ARM Cortex‑M class MCUs, DSP cores)
- Support board bring‑up, system integration, and hardware validation using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with hardware, software, and QA teams to define system requirements and ensure robust integration
- Debug complex system‑level issues spanning firmware, hardware, and audio pipelines
- Write clean, maintainable, well‑documented C/C code and technical documentation
- Participate in code reviews and help improve firmware development best practices
- Support manufacturing and test engineering teams with firmware‑related issues
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Salary : $65 - $75
