Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive UX Program Manager to support the YouTube UX Design System team. This role will focus on driving the development, evolution, and adoption of YouTube’s core design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and high-quality user experiences across products. The ideal candidate excels at cross-functional collaboration and program execution in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage the full lifecycle of design system programs, including scope definition, timelines, OKRs, resourcing, and risk management.
- Drive the development and refinement of UI components, design tokens, sticker sheets, and supporting documentation.
- Partner closely with UX Design, Research, Engineering, and Product Management to align priorities and deliverables.
- Own program planning, capacity tracking, dependency management, and on-time delivery of design system initiatives.
- Establish and maintain program governance, including status reporting, escalation management, and postmortems.
- Design and execute change management and rollout plans, including impact analysis and adoption strategies.
- Develop and deliver clear, predictable communication plans tailored to different stakeholder groups.
- Define and track metrics that measure adoption, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement of the design system.
- Facilitate effective program meetings and ensure transparency around decisions, risks, and trade-offs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in program or project management.
- Proven experience working closely with UX or Product Design teams on UI development or design workflows.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and resolve ambiguity independently.
- Experience with program management tools such as Jira, Asana, or similar.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Nice to Have:
- Direct experience working with design systems or component libraries.
- Familiarity with Figma libraries, design tokens, or UI guidelines.
- Background in UX design, UI development, or branding.
- Experience driving adoption or migration of shared platforms or systems.
