Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst – Payments (ACH & Wires) to lead requirements, design integration, and coordinate delivery for high-volume, high-risk financial transaction systems:
This is a hands-on, execution-driven leadership role, working directly with:
- Banking operations
- Engineering and integration teams
- Compliance and risk stakeholders
- Client executives
You will own requirements from business workflow through technical implementation, ensuring flawless execution under tight regulatory and delivery timelines.
We are targeting candidates with real banking and payments platform experience, including:
- ACH processing (NACHA rules)
- Domestic and international wire transfers
- Payment clearing and settlement
- Exception handling and investigations
- Cut-off windows and batch vs real-time flows
- Integration with core banking systems
Experience in retail banking, commercial banking, or capital markets operations is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Document payment workflows, exception paths, and regulatory checkpoints
- Translate bank operations into detailed technical specifications
- Ensure compliance with NACHA, Fedwire, and bank risk policies
- Own end-to-end business and technical requirements for ACH and wire platforms
- Define API contracts, file formats, and data mappings between systems
- Support integration between:
- Core banking systems
- Payment hubs
- Fraud and compliance platforms
- Reconciliation systems
- Partner with engineering on design decisions and trade-offs
- Support UAT and production readiness
- Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and prioritization
- Write detailed user stories with acceptance criteria
- Actively unblock engineering and QA teams
- Ensure delivery under aggressive timelines
- Support go-live and post-production stabilization
- Act as the primary interface between business operations and engineering
- Present progress, risks, and mitigation plans to client leadership
- Drive alignment across compliance, ops, and IT teams
- Own delivery accountability, not just documentation
Required Experience
- 12–15 years as a Business Analyst or Technical Analyst in banking or payments
- Direct hands-on experience with ACH and wire transfer systems (mandatory)
- Deep payments domain knowledge (ACH & Wires)
- Strong technical documentation and integration mapping skills
- Ability to speak fluently with both engineers and banking operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Comfortable owning delivery, not just requirements
- Executive-ready presentation and reporting skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Payment clearing and settlement
- Bank cut-off times and batch cycles
- Regulatory and compliance workflows
- Experience working with:
- APIs, message queues, and file-based integrations
- SQL and data validation
- Agile delivery teams
- Proven ability to operate in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments
- Consulting or multi-client delivery experience strongly preferred
