Project HSE Specialist
Location: Lenexa, KS
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite
Position Summary
We are seeking a Project HSE Specialist to support a facility decommissioning and demolition project. This individual will serve as the on-site safety representative, partnering with project leadership and contractors to ensure safe execution of demolition, dismantling, waste management, and construction-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project safety planning, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation activities.
- Conduct field safety observations, inspections, and audits.
- Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and verify JSAs/JHAs, energy isolation plans, and critical safety controls.
- Monitor high-risk activities including LOTO, confined space entry, hot work, work at heights, rigging, excavation, and heavy equipment operations.
- Investigate incidents, support corrective actions, and maintain safety documentation.
- Oversee construction and demolition waste handling and disposal activities.
- Collaborate with contractors and project stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of construction safety, HSE, or contractor oversight experience.
- Experience supporting industrial demolition, decommissioning, construction, or manufacturing projects.
- Strong knowledge of fall protection, LOTO, excavation safety, rigging, and other life-critical safety programs.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and incident investigation processes.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work full-time onsite for the duration of the project.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Industrial hygiene and environmental/waste management experience.
- OSHA 30 Construction certification.
- CHST, ASP, or CSP certification preferred.
