JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. The role requires hands-on use of tools and fixtures, adherence to safety protocols, and active participation in continuous improvement initiatives. The technician ensures all products meet defined quality and performance standards while maintaining an organized and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Assembly
- Assemble mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components according to specifications and production schedules
- Interpret and follow blueprints, technical drawings, color codes, and assembly instructions
- Perform plumbing-related assembly tasks including solvent welding, thread taping, and fitting installations
- Use hand tools, power tools, jigs, and fixtures for precise assembly operations
- Handle in-house standard and custom product assemblies
Quality & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety and product quality standards
- Complete required production and quality documentation accurately and on time
- Record work hours and production data in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) as required
- Identify and report quality issues and assist in troubleshooting production challenges
- Support redlining and updating of technical drawings when required
Equipment & Maintenance
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, safe, and operational condition
- Assist with basic mechanical maintenance and in-house plumbing-related tasks
- Troubleshoot and support rebuilding of equipment such as filter presses (preferred)
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Lean/5S activities
- Conduct and support daily housekeeping and workplace organization audits
- Contribute ideas for process optimization and efficiency improvements
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 6 months of relevant experience in manufacturing, assembly, or related field
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings (preferred/if applicable)
- Proficiency in using hand tools and basic power tools
Preferred Skills
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and rebuild industrial equipment such as filter presses
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Experience in Lean manufacturing or 5S environment
