Automotive Fabrication Welder -- GMAW/FCAW/SAW

You arrive for 2nd shift at 3:30 pm, gear up, and review customer drawings for the evening’s builds. From there, you rotate through flat, horizontal, and vertical welds—primarily GMAW and FCAW, with SAW as needed—checking dimensions, verifying fit-up, and making on-the-fly adjustments to keep every bead clean and consistent. You collaborate with production and engineering to work through any hiccups, and you inspect your own work so it meets stringent quality standards before the clock hits midnight.

• Pay: $21–$23 per hour
• Schedule: 2nd shift, Monday–Friday, 3:30 pm–12:00 am
• Training: Initial training on 1st shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm
• Employment type: Contract-to-hire; union membership upon conversion to full time

• Interpret and weld to customer drawings and specifications.
• Perform high-quality welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions using GMAW, FCAW, and/or SAW.
• Operate hand tools, measuring instruments, and fabrication equipment.
• Self-inspect welds to meet internal and customer quality standards.
• Adjust parameters and technique to consistently achieve top-quality results.
• Partner with production and engineering to resolve fabrication challenges.

• Hands-on experience with GMAW, FCAW, and/or SAW processes.
• Ability to identify common weld defects and maintain quality.
• Comfort using grinders and air-arc (carbon-arc) tools.
• Self-directed work style with strong productivity.
• Commitment to following instructions, safety protocols, and production goals.

• Accrue and use up to 40 hours of paid leave during a 12-month period (pro rata if part-time).
• Accrual begins on your first day of employment.
• Earned paid leave can be used starting 90 calendar days after hire.
• Accrual rate: 1 hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked, up to 40 hours.

Active employees become eligible after one year of service with at least 1,000 hours worked and age 21 . Entry dates: 1/1 or 7/1 following completion of eligibility requirements.
