Position Summary:
As a Borescope & Visual Inspection Specialist, you will work with a safety-first team to perform on-site Remote Visual Inspection (utilizing borescopes, pan tilt zoom cameras, and robotic crawlers) for a variety of clients including but not limited to refining and chemical plants, power generation (fossil, nuclear, wind), as well as infrastructure and civil engineering industries. Responsibilities include selection inspection, set up and calibration of equipment, conducting tests and critical inspections of client assets while interpreting and evaluating results in accordance applicable specifications, codes, standards and other contract documents.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Performs limited access inspections of gas or steam turbines and generators. These inspections are carried out at power generation locations worldwide.
- Stays abreast of new technologies and test procedures within the assigned organization and continually expand inspection qualifications.
- Timely with inspection report creation, timecard submittals, expense reconciliation, training requirements, and other business-related tasks.
- This position is based out of the USA remotely to support work in the USA, or abroad. This person must be a US citizen, or legal resident of USA, that can travel in and out of the USA to participate in training and work globally.
- Actively participates in JSA and uses all necessary steps to complete tasks safely and ensures the safety of others working in the area.
- Communicates with all levels of management and crew to effectively present any needs and changes.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to adhere to a written method or procedure.
- Confidence to STOP work immediately when a problem is identified.
- Perform limited access inspections of gas or steam turbines and generators. These inspections are carried out at power generation locations worldwide.
- Staying abreast of new technologies and test procedures within the assigned organization and continually expand inspection qualifications.
- Timely with inspection report creation, timecard submittals, expense reconciliation, training requirements, and other business-related tasks.
- Ability to accurately identify parts and stages of gas turbines, steam turbines and generators as well as have knowledge of common indications, discontinuities, flaws and damage mechanisms found in these systems.
- Working knowledge of remote visual inspections of gas turbines, steam turbines and generators using bore scopes, performing inspections per procedure and have knowledge of applicable TIL (Technical Information Letter) inspections.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents, preferred.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products, preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Management Responsibilities:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications):
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associates degree in NDT field, preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience performing visual inspection.
- Nuclear and/or gas turbine inspection experience preferred.
- Six months experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Current Driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must have excellent depth perception, hearing, and manual dexterity to operate all machines safely.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in extreme temperatures and weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
Other Considerations/Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically, often on short notice, and for extended periods of time.
- Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position is based out of the USA remotely to support work in the USA, or abroad. This person must be a US citizen, or legal resident of USA, that can travel in and out of the USA to participate in training and work globally.
- Must feel comfortable working in confined spaces, from ladders and working from heights (scaffolds, personal fall arrest systems (PFAS)).
- Overnight and extended work assignments vary by project and work location.
- Must participate in a rotating "on-call" schedule for weekends and holidays.
- Travel may be required up to 70% of the year.
