Medical Secretary Job Description:
- Supports physician staff by representing physicians; screening and sorting mail, documents, and telephone calls; scheduling patient appointments and arranging referrals; billing patients; preparing medical reports, and patient histories; maintaining office files and patient records.
- This position is to be offered on a full-time (32 hours per week) basis ( 4 days), with the potential to become more based on need and demand. Starting pay is variable based on experience and qualifications. Will be paid on a per hour basis.
Medical Secretary Job Duties:
- Represents physicians by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; scheduling, receiving, and announcing scheduled patients and visitors; screening unscheduled patients and visitors; arranging referrals to other health care providers for collaborative care; scheduling appointments for consultations, x-rays, lab tests, physical therapy, MRI's, CT scans, etc.
- Ensures physician productivity by maintaining calendars; schedules patient appointments; physician consultations; professional meetings, conferences; speaking arrangements, teleconferences, and travel.
- Provides historical reference by developing and utilizing filing and retrieval systems; maintains patient records; records meeting discussions and outcomes.
- Generates revenue by completing direct patient contact to collect payment; and initiating collection calls and reminders.
- Secures information by completing database back-ups.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains office supplement inventory by checking stock; anticipating needs; filling and mailing orders, and verifying receipt of orders

- Keeps office equipment well-functioning by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Maintains quality results by following and enforcing standards.
- Serves and protects the healthcare community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
- Maintains and improves skillset and training by participating in educational opportunities such as reading professional publications.
- Enhances physician office reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Medical Secretary Additional Qualifications:
CPR Certified (will do this in-house if needed)
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
