Job Title: US Engineering Technician-Mid (Electrical Engineering Technician)
Location: Andover, MA – 150 Minuteman Road (onsite)
Contract Duration: 12 months of contract
Role Summary:
This is a hands-on electrical engineering technician role supporting medical device R&D. The person will assemble, test, troubleshoot, repair, and rework prototype and production electronic hardware, including PCBAs, cable assemblies, and test fixtures. They will support electrical engineers with builds, testing, documentation, and lab work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware Assembly & Rework – 40%: Assemble PCBAs, cable assemblies, and electromechanical systems; perform SMT/through-hole soldering, desoldering, component replacement, and rework; inspect workmanship against drawings/specs.
- Testing & Troubleshooting – 35%: Build/operate test setups and fixtures; perform functional, verification, validation, and debug testing; troubleshoot to component level; use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, and data acquisition equipment.
- Documentation & Lab Support – 15%: Maintain build/repair/test records; help create work instructions and test protocols; maintain lab equipment, inventory, and safety.
- Engineering Support – 10%: Collaborate with engineers on prototype development, product verification, and design transfer to manufacturing.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years hands-on electronics technician experience.
- Strong SMT and through-hole soldering/rework skills.
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Analog/digital circuit troubleshooting.
- Experience with common lab equipment: oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, signal generators, data acquisition.
- Able to work independently once objectives are provided.
- Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Medical device, aerospace, industrial controls, or other regulated industry experience.
- Cable harness and test fixture building.
- IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 knowledge.
- Design verification testing and prototype development familiarity.
