i3 is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Management Intern to support critical initiatives in defense data handling and analysis. This role offers hands-on experience in managing Department of Defense (DoD) test data, facilitating the ingestion of mission-critical information for weapon system analysts, digitizing a national archive of historical defense records, and contributing to the sustainment of the United States’ most elite missile defense systems.

- Assist in the ingestion, organization, and processing of DoD test data from various mission sources, ensuring accurate and timely delivery to weapon system analysts for evaluation and decision-making.
- Support the digitization of a national archive, including scanning, cataloging, and metadata tagging of historical documents to enhance accessibility and preservation.
- Contribute to data management tasks related to elite missile defense systems, such as data validation, quality assurance, and integration into analytical workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data protocols that comply with DoD security standards and regulations.
- Perform routine data audits, generate reports on data integrity, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to documentation of data management procedures.

- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field at the time of the internship (Summer 2026) or the semester immediately following (Fall 2026).
- Basic understanding of data management principles, including data ingestion, storage, and retrieval processes.
- Familiarity with tools and technologies such as databases (e.g., SQL), data processing software (e.g., Python or R for scripting), and digitization platforms; prior experience with DoD-related data systems is advantageous but not required. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities, with proficiency in producing clear, professional documentation.
- Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Willingness to undergo background checks as needed.
- Demonstrated interest in defense technologies, national security, or archival digitization projects.
- Knowledge of DoD data standards, compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST), or mission test data protocols.
- Prior internship or coursework in defense, aerospace, or government sectors.

- Regular i3 hours are 800 a.m. - 500 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
