Responsibilities & Expectations:
The Submersible Pump Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, disassembly, diagnosis, repair, rebuilding, testing, installation support, and maintenance of submersible pumps and related rotating equipment used in municipal, industrial, wastewater, stormwater, mining, and commercial applications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of pump systems, motors, seals, bearings, hydraulics, and electrical/mechanical components.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
The Submersible Pump Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, disassembly, diagnosis, repair, rebuilding, testing, installation support, and maintenance of submersible pumps and related rotating equipment used in municipal, industrial, wastewater, stormwater, mining, and commercial applications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of pump systems, motors, seals, bearings, hydraulics, and electrical/mechanical components.
Pump Repair & Rebuild
- Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair submersible pumps and associated equipment
- Diagnose failures involving bearings, seals, impellers, shafts, wear rings, cables, and motors
- Rebuild pumps to OEM specifications and quality standards
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and alignment tools
- Replace mechanical seals, bearings, gaskets, O-rings, and electrical components
- Conduct shaft inspections, impeller clearance checks, and hydraulic evaluations
- Perform electrical and mechanical testing of repaired equipment
- Conduct insulation resistance and continuity testing using megohmmeters and multimeters
- Operate test tanks and verify pump performance, vibration, amperage, and rotation
- Complete repair reports, inspection documentation, and testing records
- Ensure repairs meet safety, quality, and customer standards
- Assist with installation, removal, startup, and troubleshooting of pumps in the field
- Support confined space and wastewater lift station service activities when required
- Interface with customers to explain repair findings and recommendations
- Participate in emergency breakdown response and after-hours service calls as needed
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Operate forklifts, cranes, hoists, pressure washers, and shop equipment safely
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and all safety procedures
- Assist with inventory management, parts identification, and material handling
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3 years of experience repairing pumps, motors, rotating equipment, or industrial machinery
- Ability to read blueprints, repair manuals, and technical drawings
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, and lifting equipment
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work safely in industrial environments
