Integrated Life Choices (ILC) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Lead Pharmacy Tech.
The Lead Pharmacy Technician plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy technician team within a long-term care setting. This leadership position ensures accurate, efficient, and compliant preparation and delivery of medications, while fostering a collaborative and high-performing technician workforce. The Lead Technician serves as the primary liaison between the technician team and pharmacy leadership, driving quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Oversight
- Mentor pharmacy technicians, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback
- Coordinate technician schedules, task assignments, and workflow to optimize efficiency
- Serve as the first point of contact for technician-related issues, escalations, and conflict resolution
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous learning
Medication Preparation & Dispensing
- Ensure prescriptions are accurately filled and labeled using automated and manual systems
- Oversee preparation of blister compliance packs for delivery
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor technician adherence to DEA, state boards of pharmacy, CMS, and facility-specific protocols
- Lead internal audits and support external inspections with documentation and readiness
- Ensure proper handling and documentation of controlled substances
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Oversee inventory processes including stock rotation, expiration tracking, and reordering
- Manage technician execution of returns, recalls, and waste disposal procedures
- Collaborate with procurement and pharmacists to resolve inventory discrepancies
Communication & Coordination
- Act as liaison between technicians, pharmacists, and facility staff to ensure smooth operations
- Support transitions of care by coordinating discharge medication preparation and profile updates
- Assist with formulary management and medication-related inquiries
Technology & Documentation
- Ensure accurate use of pharmacy software systems (e.g., FrameworkLTC, Framework ECM)
- Maintain high standards for documentation of dispensing, billing, and inventory transactions
- Lead technician participation in quality assurance and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; pharmacy technician certification preferred (CPhT)
- Active state pharmacy technician license (as required)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in LTC, retail, or institutional pharmacy setting
- Prior experience in a supervisory or lead technician role strongly preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in medication reconciliation and MAR documentation
- Experience training and mentoring pharmacy staff
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions
- May involve standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs
- Flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Exposure to confidential patient information; HIPAA compliance required
