Position Summary

The Human Resources & Revenue Cycle Specialist plays a critical dual role supporting both people’s operations and financial performance within a behavioral health organization. This position is responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle while ensuring accurate and efficient billing, claims processing, and revenue cycle operations.

This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who can balance confidential HR responsibilities with financial accuracy and compliance, contributing to a positive workplace culture and a healthy revenue cycle.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Operations

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and personnel records
  • Maintain HRIS systems and ensure data accuracy, reporting, and compliance
  • Administer payroll, including timekeeping reconciliation and processing
  • Oversee benefits administration (enrollment, changes, employee support, and vendor coordination)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Support employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management
  • Assist leadership with disciplinary actions, documentation, and policy implementation
  • Coordinate training, credentialing, and continuing education tracking
  • Maintain HR policies, SOPs, and conduct periodic audits (I-9, licensure, personnel files)

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Management

  • Coordinate job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring processes
  • Manage background checks, onboarding documentation, and new hire orientation
  • Track credentialing and licensure requirements for clinical staff

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Reconcile payroll and benefits data with financial records
  • Administer benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, and other benefits regulations

Revenue Cycle & Billing Operations

  • Verify client insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery
  • Process authorizations and ensure compliance with payer requirements
  • Submit and monitor insurance claims (Medicaid, Medicare, commercial payers)
  • Ensure accurate coding (CPT, ICD-10) in collaboration with clinical staff
  • Post payments, reconcile accounts, and manage billing records
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
  • Resolve billing discrepancies and client account issues
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and healthcare billing regulations

Denials Management & Collections

  • Investigate and resolve denied or rejected claims
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Manage AR aging and collections to improve cash flow
  • Process refunds, adjustments, and write-offs in accordance with policy

Reporting, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Generate HR and billing reports, dashboards, and analytics
  • Support financial audits and compliance reviews
  • Maintain internal controls across HR and revenue cycle functions
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and applicable healthcare regulations

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Accounting, or related field required
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
  • Revenue cycle or coding certification (CPC, CRCR) a plus

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in HR operations and/or healthcare revenue cycle
  • Experience in behavioral health or healthcare setting strongly preferred
  • Proven experience with payroll, benefits, and billing processes
  • Familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of employment laws and healthcare regulations
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and revenue cycle processes
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in HRIS, payroll systems, EHR, and billing platforms
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment with flexibility for remote work
  • Occasional in-office presence and regional travel as needed
  • Interaction with employees, leadership, clinical staff, clients, and payers
