Position Overview:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving new revenue through client acquisition and market expansion. This role is focused on securing new airline, airport, cargo, and specialized service contracts.
The Business Development Manager works closely with the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, operational leaders, and technical teams to develop proposals, respond to RFPs, and expand the company’s winter services portfolio.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
New Business Development
- Identify and secure new clients
- Expand into new airports and service lines
- Maintain strong pipeline of opportunities
- Pursue cargo and specialized handling opportunities
Sales Strategy & Market Expansion
- Develop growth plans
- Identify high-potential markets
- Position company competitively
Client Acquisition & Relationship Building
- Build relationships with prospective clients
- Represent company at industry events
- Tailor solutions to client needs
Proposal & Bid Leadership
- Lead RFP responses and proposals
- Collaborate cross-functionally
- Ensure competitive submissions
Negotiation & Deal Closure
- Lead negotiations
- Structure profitable deals
- Ensure smooth handover to operations
Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor activity
- Provide insights into growth opportunities
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5–10 years in business development or sales
- Proven track record of winning new business
- Aviation or logistics experience preferred
- Strong RFP and negotiation skills
- Ability to travel extensively across North America
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Problem-solving and decision-making capability under operational pressure.
- Sales pipeline management, proposal development and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively in English.
Travel:
Position requires extensive domestic and international travel, possibly on short notice, to meet immediate business needs.
