What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at Integrated Community?
Position:
Title: Director of Operatios
Who We Are
Integrated Community (CIIC) is a BIPOC-led nonprofit serving immigrant communities in Routt and Moffat Counties in Northwest Colorado. Since 2004, we have been the only organization of our kind in this region — providing immigration legal services, community navigation, language services, education, and mental health support to families building their lives here.
We are a team of about 11 staff and contractors who believe deeply that every person deserves dignity, empowerment, equity, and trust. If those words mean something to you, this might be the right place.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Operations to join our leadership team — someone who loves building systems, leading people, and making sure a mission-driven organization actually runs the way it should.
This role is the operational backbone of our Steamboat Springs office. You will supervise a team of 3–4 staff, manage organizational systems and technology, and work closely with the Executive Director to keep programs on track and the organization moving forward. You will have real authority, real responsibility, and a direct line to leadership.
This is not a back-office role. You will be in the room where decisions get made.
What You'll Do
- Supervise assigned Steamboat Springs-based staff, providing daily direction, workflow coordination, task delegation, scheduling, and timesheet approval.
- Provide day-to-day performance oversight, including coaching, accountability conversations, and documentation of concerns, escalating formal disciplinary matters to the Executive Director as needed.
- Work collaboratively with program coordinators to support achievement of program objectives outlined in CIIC's strategic plan, tracking progress and removing operational barriers.
- Manage day-to-day operational systems, office infrastructure, and vendor relationships.
- Oversee technology platforms and data systems including Airtable and Glide.
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of internal policies and procedures.
- Manage key projects and operational initiatives as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Support onboarding of new staff including payroll setup and benefits enrollment.
- Coordinate staff training logistics and professional development tracking.
- Support recruitment efforts including posting positions and coordinating candidate communications.
- Manage office facilities, equipment, and physical workspace.
- Support preparation of board meeting materials including data compilation and logistical coordination.
- Work with the Executive Director on strategic plan monitoring, progress tracking, and reporting.
- Serve as operational point of contact between program staff and the Executive Director.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish — spoken and written. More than 90% of the people we serve are Spanish-speaking immigrants, and this is essential to everything we do.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in operations, administration, or project management, including supervisory experience.
- Integrity, confidentiality, and a genuine passion for CIIC's mission.
- Strong interpersonal skills — you build trust with staff, partners, board members, and community.
- Ability to work effectively across socioeconomic, racial, cultural, and educational differences with patience and respect.
- High initiative and a results-oriented approach.
- Proficiency with Google Suite, databases, and project management tools.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. This role requires consistent in-person presence in Steamboat Springs year-round — including during severe winter weather — and may involve operating CIIC's organizational vehicle. Mileage reimbursement provided.
Preferred:
- Experience in nonprofit operations or human services.
- Knowledge of immigrant community needs and culturally responsive service delivery.
- Experience with Airtable, Glide, or QuickBooks.
- Familiarity with grant reporting and nonprofit financial management.
- Understanding of rural Northwest Colorado community dynamics.
What We Offer
- Salary: $75,000 – $82,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Health and dental insurance with 100% of employee premium covered by CIIC.
- SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer match.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Professional development allowance.
- Colorado FAMLI leave.
- A pet-friendly office and a team that genuinely cares about the work.
