Integral Federal is looking to hire a Senior Application Support Engineer to support the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Performance Engineering Analytics (PEA) program. The PEA program will support TSA as they continue to look for ways to enhance its layered approach to security through new state-of-the-art technologies, expanded use of existing and proven technologies, improved passenger identification techniques, and other developments that will continue to strengthen anti-terrorism capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the administration and operations management for on-premises and cloud data science and data analytics environment
• Collaborate with user community of the data science & analytics environment to assist with environment usage and identify opportunities for improvements
• Support the administration of the data science notebook environment (e.g., Zeppelin)
• Support the administration of the ETL environment (e.g. IBM Informatica)
• Support the administration of the visualization environment (e.g. Microsoft Power BI Server)
• Support the administration of the R/Python environment to include the data science packages
• Support the administration of the data science tools on the desktops (e.g. Programming IDEs, SQL editors, desktop clients for the tools above)
• Independently install, customize and integrate commercial software packages
• Integrate and deploy data science applications with the TSA program infrastructure and platforms
• Ensure regular application maintenance is performed and conduct post maintenance testing to ensure applications are working correctly – includes planning, coordination and communication activities
• Responding to reported incidents for the data science environment and maintaining incidents and production support in the ticketing system and/or via Agile stories (work items)
• Respond to security tickets for the data science applications and ensure security ticket response is tracked via Agile stories (work items)
• Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) of system issues
• Support the optimization of the data science application environment and identify areas to improve system performance and availability
• Complete security tickets by gathering evidence/artifacts, submitting evidence to the program security department, and closing the associated tickets or Agile stories

Qualifications

Required:

• 10 years’ experience and a Bachelor’s degree
• Experience with environments and tools listed below:

On-premises and Cloud database, data science and data analytics environments

• Administration experience with IBM Integrated Analytics System, IBM Sailfish (formerly Netezza; hardware accelerated database appliance), AWS Redshift or similar products
• Expertise with query troubleshooting and optimization to include analyzing optimization plans, debugging stored procedures, and analyzing table structures
• Skills in troubleshooting connections to a database or database appliance

Notebook environment

• Administration experience with Apache Zeppelin or similar web-based notebook collaboration environment (e.g. JupyterLabs)
• Skills in setting up connections and interpreters to local file systems, external file systems, external databases, and programming languages such as Java, SQL, Python, and R
• Experience with performance troubleshooting of Python and R code in a notebook or data science toolkit environment

ETL Environment

• Administration experience with Informatica or similar ETL tools
• Experience with performance troubleshooting of ETL issues
• Familiarity with web application support for the ETL tools

Visualization environment

• Administration experience with Microsoft Power BI Report server or similar business intelligence tool
• Experience with performance troubleshooting the reporting infrastructure
• Familiarity with web application support and desktop support for visualization tools

Python/R environment

• Experience with package maintenance and dependency checks for languages such as R and Python
• Experience with deploying packages to Windows desktops, Windows Servers, and RHEL servers from external sources such as Pypi.org and cran
• Experience with resolving dependency issues for R and Python

Desktop tools

• Experience maintaining and upgrading tools in a Windows desktop environment

Certificate maintenance

• Experience with updating server and application certificate key stores in a RHEL or similar environment

Preferred:

• Experience working in TSA mission or DHS environment
• Experience working in data science and data analytics environments
• Experience working in Agile environments
• AWS Cloud migration experience
• Experience with RHEL8, Elasticsearch/Kibana and AWS Cloud products (including Redshift, Glue)
• Systems engineering background and/or skills
• Master of Science degree
