Job Summary: Responsible for coordinating, planning, and managing engineering and design projects from concept through completion. The role requires strong technical knowledge across multiple disciplines, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver successful projects. This individual will work closely with Project Managers, clients, engineers, designers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met within scope, schedule, and budget.
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the project team to develop engineering design solutions for mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, and process systems.
- Assist the Project Manager in planning and managing engineering projects, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Review engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings to ensure they meet project requirements and applicable standards.
- Coordinate the work of various disciplines and ensure seamless integration of systems and processes.
- Interface with clients and subcontractors to clarify design requirements, resolve technical issues, and communicate project progress.
- Perform site visits to gather information, verify existing conditions, and support construction efforts as needed.
- Support the development of construction documents, ensuring designs are constructible and meet client expectations.
- Review vendor and subcontractor drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure that all designs adhere to industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Contribute to hazard analyses, risk assessments, and safety evaluations for projects involving complex systems or high-security facilities.
- Monitor and report project performance against key metrics such as scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new processes or best practices to improve project delivery and engineering design efficiency.
- Contribute to client request for proposal (RFP) responses, including the development of man-hour estimates and project timelines.
Education and Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in engineering design projects.
- Basic understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, IEEE, NFPA, etc.).
- Experience with construction administration, including reviewing submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders. IE Group is a hybrid workforce and collaborative use of communication tools is necessary.
- Successful drug screening.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge, if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards PE certification.
- Proficiency with computer-aided drafting and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or similar platforms.
- Experienced in performing interdisciplinary coordination and resolving technical issues during design development
- Competent in executing engineering work under ASME NQA-1 quality requirements.
Travel Requirements:
- 10%-20% travel expected to project meetings, training, and/or site visits, as needed
