The opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Litigation Assistant to join our Coverage team based in our New York City, NY; Plymouth, MN; Anaheim, CA office or remotely nationwide. This job is responsible for providing high-level litigation support of a complex and confidential nature to the company’s Staff Counsel operations. Assists Staff Counsel in the preparation of pleadings, reports, and litigation files for trial and ultimate resolution. Requires a broad knowledge of litigation and litigation-related software for billing and filing needs. Candidate will be highly organized and work well as a member of a team that provides legal support to the Staff Counsel.
- Develops and maintains litigation-related documents, office product, and other materials; performs data entry of applicable office/division/group information, and maintains library, references, and other indexes, as applicable.
- Creates regularly scheduled reports, power point presentations and excel spreadsheets.
- Performs customer service function, as required.
- Develops and maintains network of relationships throughout the company to facilitate communication and cooperation.
- Edits and distributes office and project materials and assists staff in developing and maintaining professional relationships with company insureds and internal contacts.
- Position may include paralegal functions. Successful candidate will participate in the design and implementation of litigation services consistent with the needs of the Staff Counsel office.
- Assists Staff Counsel in maintaining calendar for all litigation and business-related deadlines including court filings, appearances, depositions and internal reporting obligations.
The expertise you bring
- High School diploma and Associate’s degree preferred with demonstrated experience required.
- 3-5 years of experience in a law firm or law department, preferred.
- Familiarity with basic legal terminology is desirable
- Workers Compensation experience in NYC required and California preferred.
Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $61,000 – $86,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $76,000 -$90,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
