Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager with our client in Illinois. In this hybrid role, you’ll be an essential leader within our client’s claims department, overseeing Workers’ Compensation Claims Teams, including Team Leaders and Adjusters. You’ll provide coaching, strategic oversight, and technical expertise to drive quality claims outcomes, develop future leadership, and ensure compliance with industry best practices. This position requires regular in-office presence (2–3 days weekly) based on performance production.
Workers' Compensation Claims Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of Claims Teams, ensuring adherence to Best Practices and quality standards.
- Coach, mentor, and develop Team Leaders and Adjusters to build leadership capabilities and deliver optimal outcomes.
- Monitor and ensure timely investigations, reserve setting, claim resolution, and compliance with state regulations.
- Provide oversight on complex or escalated claims, including settlement and reserve authority requests.
- Collaborate with defense counsel, risk management, nurse case management, and other stakeholders to drive effective claim strategies.
- Ensure accurate reporting, diary management, claim coding, and compliance with Medicare and Section 111 requirements.
- Identify training and development opportunities to strengthen team capabilities and performance.
- Conduct audits, performance reviews, and staff evaluations while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Support strategy development and implementation of new client service plans and unit workflows.
- Participate in claim reviews and client meetings, including occasional travel.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience overseeing workers’ compensation claims teams.
- Strong technical expertise in workers’ compensation claims handling, including multi-jurisdictional knowledge.
- Skilled in coaching, staff development, and performance management.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
Education
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $110,000 – $125,000 annually, based on experience.
