Senior COBOL Developer / Programmer Consultant

Job Type: Contract – 12 Months

Location: South Carolina – Hybrid

Work Authorization: W2 Only.

Candidate Location: Must currently reside in South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia. Candidates may relocate at their own expense to meet the required hybrid schedule before the start date.

Required Qualifications

• 6 years of experience with Visual COBOL and/or Micro Focus COBOL.
• Working knowledge of Visual COBOL V9.
• 10 years developing and maintaining complex, mission-critical applications in a Windows-based client-server environment.
• 5 years leading technical software development teams through planning and deployment of software systems.
• 10 years coding and testing complex COBOL-based business systems using Oracle SQL in a Windows client-server environment.
• 5 years providing Level 3 (L3) production support.
• 5 years serving as a primary technical contact with business units to develop and review business and technical specifications.
• 10 years of experience in system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and modification of enterprise applications.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle 19 SQL.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio, .NET, and C#.
• Previous experience working in a government or public-sector environment.
• Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical business applications.
• Experience mentoring and guiding junior or less-experienced technical staff.

Preferred Certification

• Visual COBOL Technical Certification

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
