The Database Architect 2 will serve as a technical advisor supporting the modernization of a new case management system. This role focuses on data architecture, modeling, governance, and integration to ensure efficient and secure handling of child welfare data.
The candidate will collaborate with technology teams, program divisions, and external vendors to design scalable and compliant data solutions aligned with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain complex data models (conceptual, logical, physical)
- Architect data solutions for legacy system modernization to cloud platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data flow and integration strategies
- Ensure data governance, quality, and compliance with regulations
- Support ETL processes and data integration methodologies
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical data solutions
- Work with sensitive government and child welfare data systems
- Provide documentation for IT and business stakeholders
- Assist in reviewing processes, policies, and practices for system modernization
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory (7 Years)
- Data architecture, data modeling, and database design
- Developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Enterprise-level data projects (on-prem & cloud)
- Legacy system modernization to cloud solutions
- Strong communication (verbal & written)
- Proficiency in Oracle and cloud data platforms
Preferred (4 Years)
- Data governance frameworks and data quality management
- ETL processes and data integration
- Requirements documentation for IT/business solutions
- Working in cross-functional teams
Nice to Have (2 Years)
- Experience with child welfare systems and data
- Government sector experience handling sensitive data
Work Environment
- Hybrid work model (Austin, TX office remote)
- Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
- May require extended hours, weekends, or holidays (pre-approved)
- Travel expenses (if any) must be pre-approved and are limited per state guidelines
