Role Summary
We are seeking a strong SAP BPC Functional Finance Consultant to support executive financial reporting for CFO, CEO, and senior leadership through Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews.
This role is not responsible for active SAP BPC system development or administration. Instead, the individual will act as a functional liaison between Accounting, Finance, Business stakeholders, and Technology teams, ensuring financial logic, consolidation rules, and planning assumptions are correctly understood, interpreted, and translated into executive dashboards and insights.
The consultant will bring deep functional understanding of the SAP BPC ecosystem, including consolidation, budgeting, and forecasting processes, and provide governance and clarity over how financial data is represented for leadership decision-making.
Finance & BPC Functional Expertise
- Serve as a functional subject matter expert (SME) for SAP BPC concepts including:
- Financial consolidation and close processes
- Intercompany eliminations and currency translation
- Budgeting, forecasting, and planning cycles
- Actuals vs Plan / Forecast comparisons
- Translate BPC financial logic into clear business rules and definitions for reporting and analytics teams.
- Ensure consistency of financial definitions (KPIs, measures, hierarchies) across Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Act as a bridge between Accounting, FP&A, and Business teams, ensuring reporting reflects approved financial logic and governance.
- Partner with Accounting to validate:
- Consolidation results interpretation
- Financial statement rollups (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Period close nuances impacting executive reporting
- Support Finance leadership by clarifying data movements, adjustments, and variances used in executive dashboards.
- Work closely with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to:
- Explain upstream BPC structures and processes that impact downstream reporting
- Validate business requirements for executive dashboards
- Review data mappings, reconciliation logic, and financial controls at a functional level
- Provide high-level oversight of how data flows from SAP BPC into modern analytics platforms (e.g., cloud data platforms and reporting tools), without hands-on development responsibility.
- Support CFO/CEO-facing dashboards used for:
- Monthly Business Reviews (MBR)
- Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR)
- Help ensure executive reporting is:
- Financially accurate
- Properly reconciled
- Aligned with accounting and finance-approved logic
- Assist in documenting assumptions, definitions, and narratives used in executive reviews.
Functional & Domain Experience
- Strong functional experience with SAP BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation) in a finance context.
- Solid understanding of:
- Financial consolidation processes
- Budgeting and forecasting workflows
- Period close and financial reporting cycles
- Prior experience working closely with:
- Accounting teams
- FP&A and Finance leadership
- IT or Data teams in a translator / liaison role
- Ability to communicate complex financial and system concepts in clear, business-friendly language.
- Comfortable interacting with senior finance leaders, including CFO-level stakeholders.
- Strong documentation and requirement articulation skills.
- High-level understanding of SAP BPC architecture, data models, and integrations.
- Awareness of how financial data is consumed in modern analytics and executive dashboards (hands-on technical skills not required).
- Experience supporting executive-level financial dashboards or leadership reviews.
- Background in SAP Finance, FP&A systems, or enterprise financial reporting transformations.
- Prior experience in large enterprise or matrixed organizations.
