Payroll Manager – Shared Services - ACTIVE CPP A MUST!
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead a high-volume, multi-state U.S. and multi-province Canadian payroll operation within a Shared Services environment. Reporting to the Payroll Director, this role oversees a team of 24 direct and indirect reports and is responsible for delivering accurate, timely payroll with exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accurate and timely processing of biweekly, weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls for salaried, hourly, tipped, seasonal, and union employees across the U.S. and Canada.
- Lead, mentor, and develop payroll team members, providing performance management, coaching, and goal-setting.
- Maintain strong communication and team cohesion in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Produce and analyze payroll reports for leadership, HR, Benefits, Risk Management, and other departments.
- Serve as the primary payroll liaison to internal and external service providers.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Partner with HR, Accounting, and other departments to resolve payroll issues promptly.
- Apply change-management best practices and continuously improve payroll processes and customer service quality.
- Protect the confidentiality and security of all payroll data.
- Manage timelines for pay corrections, inquiries, and reporting; handle special projects as assigned.
- Minimal travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of payroll experience and 3 years as a Payroll Manager in a high-volume environment.
- CPP certification required.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, report writing, wage and hour laws, garnishments, payroll tax, and regulatory reporting.
- Proven ability to manage high-volume payroll (10,000 employees).
- Dayforce would be great to have.
- Experience in a publicly traded company preferred.
- Multi-state experience required, including California; Canadian payroll experience a plus.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and leadership skills.
- Hands-on approach, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
- Experience with timekeeping, POS, and other payroll-related systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Paying $120,000 to $130,000 with bonus must have CPP and large company experience.
