Job Title: Senior Payroll Manager
A large, high-volume organization is seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to lead U.S. and Canadian payroll operations within a Shared Services environment. This role oversees a team of 24 and manages complex, multi-entity payroll in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payrolls for salaried, hourly, tipped, seasonal, and union employees across the U.S. and Canada
- Lead, develop, and manage a payroll team of 24 (4 managers, 20 specialists)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Canadian payroll regulations
- Maintain strong internal controls and SOX compliance
- Partner with HR, Accounting, Benefits, and external payroll vendors
- Drive continuous improvement of payroll processes and service levels
- Manage payroll corrections, reporting, audits, and special projects
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data security standards
Requirements
- 7 years in a high-volume payroll environment (10,000 employees)
- 3 years in a Payroll Manager leadership role
- Active CPP certification required
- Multi-state payroll required, including California
- Canadian payroll experience strongly preferred
- Experience in a publicly traded company
- Strong background in performance management and team leadership
- Comfortable operating in fast-changing, high-pressure environments
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
