APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 11TH, 2024. MAJOR FUNCTION: This entry level position is designed to train and guide the EMT Trainee in the Emergency Services field. The goal of the program is to provide selected candidates with the necessary training and skills to become a certified EMT. Trainees will undergo 10 weeks of paid full-time field and classroom training to meet New Jersey and National Registry requirements for EMT certification. Trainees will receive classroom and field training in emergency care of the sick and injures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, use of oxygen as well as the Mobility Assistance Vehicle Technician program. An EMT Trainee is under constant supervision while attending the Academy. The academy prepares trainees for an EMS career and also teaches the trainee to perform related work. Upon successful completion of the trainee program, employees that successfully complete the certification process will be promoted to Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). QUALIFICATIONS: Education Experience: High School or equivalent required. Customer service experience preferred. Certification/Licensure: Valid drivers license in NJ in accordance with Inspira Healths Fleet Safety ADM.291*IHN*. Position Responsibilities Emergency Medical Technician training: •Attends all assigned classes. •Reports to class and clinical assignments on time and actively participates until the conclusion of the class. •Completes all assignments by their deadline. •Makes up any missed classes and/or assignments prior to the end of the training cycle. •Asks questions to ensure they have a complete understanding of the material presented. •Participates in the assigned review program. •Practices problem solving and critical thinking skills by completing assigned activities. •Writes practice patient care reports. •Participates in practice skill activities. •Ensures they are properly wearing the department issued uniform. •Participates in all assigned clinical and field training. •Prepares for the certification examination. Receives mentoring and training from academy instructors, Field Training Officers and other members of the department: •Displays calm, courteous, tactful manner at all times. •Displays the ability to think critically and solve problems in cooperation with a partner. •Shows the ability to accept increasing responsibility during the training process. Participates in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement initiatives within the training program to provide the highest quality of care available to their patients: •Displays the ability to accept constructive feedback from instructors, FTOs and peers. •Shows an increasing ability to increase the ability to function independently. •Uses HRO tools to improve their ability to provide emergency care.
