Rockville, Maryland | Full-time | Hybrid: 2–3 days per week in the office
Annual base salary: $140,000–$180,000 USD. This position offers the benefits listed below and does not include bonus, commission or equity compensation.
Insilica builds software that helps scientists find, evaluate and use chemical and biological evidence. We are hiring a senior platform engineer to make scientific workflows reproducible, dependable and usable in customer environments.
What you will own
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs and scientific data workflows in Go and Python.
• Connect document extraction, structured data and scientific tools into traceable workflows.
• Make long-running work recover from failures while preserving source, version and run identity.
• Improve Kubernetes/Helm deployment, monitoring and operational support for customer installations.
• Work with scientists and product colleagues to deliver complete workflows and verify their behavior.
What you bring
• Demonstrated software development experience building, testing and maintaining systems; explain code you personally owned and how you verified its behavior.
• Demonstrated ownership of production software, from design through deployment and maintenance.
• Strong Go or Python skills and the ability to work across both.
• Experience with APIs, data contracts, containers and diagnosing distributed-system failures.
• Clear reasoning about testing, reproducibility, observability and deployment tradeoffs.
• Ability to work with domain experts and turn an uncertain requirement into a testable implementation.
Useful experience includes Kubernetes/Helm, durable workflow engines, knowledge graphs, scientific data or evaluation of AI-assisted systems. You do not need every technology in our stack.

Current benefits
