Senior Scientific Applications Scientist — Pharmaceutical Informatics

Rockville, Maryland | Full-time | Hybrid: 2–3 days per week in the office

Annual base salary: $120,000–$160,000 USD. This position offers the benefits listed below and does not include bonus, commission or equity compensation.

Insilica builds software that helps scientists find, evaluate and use chemical and biological evidence. We are hiring a scientific applications scientist to turn pharmaceutical research and safety questions into useful, source-linked workflows and successful customer pilots.

What you will own

• Work directly with pharmaceutical and life-sciences scientists to define the question, evidence requirements and criteria for a useful result.

• Build or prototype scientific workflows using Python, structured data, literature evidence and computational tools.

• Check chemical identity, assay context, units, study quality and the applicability of model predictions.

• Evaluate AI-assisted summaries against their original sources and explain uncertainty clearly.

• Deliver demonstrations, pilot workflows and reusable report templates, working closely with engineering.

• Translate customer feedback into specific product requirements and support adoption.

What you bring

• Development experience or substantial computational experience, demonstrated through reproducible scientific analyses, scripts, notebooks or workflow tools you personally built and validated.

• Practical scientific informatics experience in pharmaceutical research, ADME/toxicology, nonclinical safety or a closely related setting.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze chemical or biological data and inspect computational results critically.

• Confidence discussing scientific questions with customers and explaining conclusions and limitations.

• Scientific programming skills and experience making an analysis reproducible.

• Evidence of delivering useful work collaboratively with scientists and software engineers.

Relevant experience may come from industry, consulting, academia or a combination. Advanced scientific training is useful; we value demonstrated judgment and delivery. Knowledge of cheminformatics, evidence synthesis, ontologies or predictive toxicology is helpful.
