Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Room team. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed history-taking to determine acuity levels and prioritize care.
- Triage incoming patients efficiently using established protocols, ensuring those with the most urgent needs receive immediate attention.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and immunizations, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital policies.
- Manage airway interventions such as ventilator support and perform advanced airway management when necessary.
- Conduct procedures such as suturing, catheterization (urinary and central lines), wound care, and tube feeding with precision and adherence to infection control standards.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities, medication administration, and medical records management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, radiology staff (e.g., CT scans), laboratory personnel, and specialists in infectious disease care or trauma medicine to coordinate comprehensive patient treatment plans.
- Monitor patients continuously for signs of acute pain or deterioration; implement appropriate pain management strategies aligned with best practices.
- Support patients with diverse needs such as those requiring memory care, behavioral health interventions, or working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Participate in discharge planning, patient education on health coaching topics, and follow-up care instructions to ensure smooth transitions from emergency care to ongoing treatment or home settings.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies to safeguard patient confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in good standing; current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in emergency room settings or urgent care environments demonstrating proficiency in trauma medicine, Level I or Level II trauma center experience is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques including laboratory experience and medical imaging such as sonography or radiology procedures like CT scans.
- Skilled in performing complex procedures such as suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture (IV insertion), catheter care (including ostomy), sterile processing techniques, and infection control protocols.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient data and medical records management.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards; critical care experience including ICU or PICU is a plus.
- Demonstrated competence in managing acute pain cases, infectious disease protocols, hospice & palliative medicine principles, or working within a Level I Trauma Center environment is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and compassionate interaction with patients from diverse backgrounds including geriatrics (long-term care & memory care), pediatrics (neonatal & toddler care), or behavioral health populations.
