What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT- NIGHT SHIFT position at Insight?
The Physician Assistant provides healthcare services under the supervision of the physicians. Evaluation and care of patients occurs within their scope of practice defined and agreed to by members of the administrative team and medical staff. The Physician Assistant functions will vary with training, experience, and the department. The hospital expects the Physician Assistant to exercise only those core privileges and procedures that are explicitly approved by the supervising physician in the written protocols established by the supervising physician. The Physician Assistant works closely with the medical staff and nursing staff and other key employees to ensure that patient needs are met.
Job Duties
The Physician Assistant provides supervised patient care, support for organizational improvement and serves as a patient role model and advocate for the delivery of compassionate, comprehensive care to patients and their families. PAs work closely with all staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of patient care, educational materials and opportunities and professional development.
Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school for physician assistants. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Current Physician Assistant License in the State of Illinois required.
- Certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants or equivalent successor agency required.
- Two years Physician Assistant experience preferred.
- Prior hospital experience preferred
- DEA Licensing required at time of hire
