Role Overview
Our client is hiring a Superintendent to support government contract construction projects in Portsmouth, VA. This role is focused on managing daily field operations, subcontractors, and compliance with federal construction requirements. Prior experience working on government-funded construction projects is required.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee daily jobsite operations on active government construction projects
- Coordinate subcontractors, inspectors, and site personnel
- Ensure work complies with federal contract requirements, safety standards, and project schedules
- Track progress, address field issues, and communicate with project leadership
- Maintain site documentation, schedules, and quality control standards
Hard Requirements
- Experience working on government or federal construction projects (required)
- Field experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
- Experience managing subcontractors and daily jobsite activities
- Strong understanding of safety, QA/QC, and compliance on regulated projects
- Ability to pass the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer CQM for Contractors course
Bonus / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience on projects for USACE, NAVFAC, VA, DoD, or GSA
- Experience on large commercial or institutional construction projects
- OSHA 30 or similar safety certification
