About the Role
We’re seeking a Packaging Engineer to join a growing team in Princeton, NJ. This role is responsible for leading packaging development projects from concept through manufacturing launch, supporting both new product development and enhancements to existing packaging.
You’ll manage multiple packaging initiatives at once, ensuring timelines are met, challenges are resolved, and stakeholder expectations are aligned. This role is accountable for delivering packaging solutions that meet quality standards and consumer expectations while maintaining project schedules.
Under minimal supervision, you’ll collaborate cross‑functionally with Quality, Finance, Procurement, Regulatory, Engineering, Operations, consultants, and external vendors to drive successful execution.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based in Princeton, NJ, with in‑office collaboration on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and remote work flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead packaging development across materials including fiberboard, corrugated, plastics, films, and labels
- Execute full‑scope packaging projects from primary through tertiary packaging
- Develop and execute test plans, including documentation and reporting
- Create, manage, and maintain project timelines to ensure on‑time delivery
- Support qualification programs for new packaging designs and materials
- Drive cost‑savings initiatives through packaging design and material selection
- Travel to vendor and manufacturing sites to support development and implementation
- Conduct hands‑on evaluations in packaging labs and warehouse environments to ensure requirements are met
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Sciences
- 1 year of relevant packaging development experience
- Basic knowledge of packaging materials and converting processes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in consumer goods packaging
- Exposure to primary through tertiary packaging development for new product launches
- Knowledge of qualification processes for new packaging designs and materials
- Experience developing component specifications
- Familiarity with packaging materials and processes including:
- Corrugated containers
- Folding cartons (solid fiberboard)
- Plastic bottles
- Flexible packaging
- Thermoformed packaging
- Injection molding
Salary : $45 - $60
